Wonka Sweets

Wonka sweets, Willy Wonka, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Nestle

Have you seen Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (old and/ or new version)? I wouldn't mind at all to visit Willy Wonka's chocolate factory although some bits were quite freaky! One of the sweets they made that I remembered most from the original version was their Everlasting Gobstopper. It was pyramid shaped with lots of colours on it. If only if they make those in real life!

Were you at any point during the show, like me, wishing for any of the sweets to be available in real life? Nestle was quick at picking up the idea and made a full range of sweets (and chocolate too, of course!) inspired by the story, and even branded it with the name Wonka. And they have arrived the UK!

I was sent a great selection of their sweets and not only did Abby loved them, me, hubby, brother, sister in law and their kids loved them as well! Did I mention that Clay had the happiest moment in his 11 months life when he accidentally picked up one from the floor and put it in his mouth?! Couldn't even dig it out from his mouth without being bitten. How I wish we took a picture of that 'I'm all high' smile.

We all had our favourites. Me and hubby absolutely loved the Wonka Runts, which are fruity flavoured sweets in fruit shapes. We kept fighting for the bananas! I was a bit heart broken when the box went half empty after the children had a go at it! (Clay had a green apple one, tut tut tut!)

One thing that surprised me and made me chuckle was their honesty.  It doesn't even stop people from buying them! I wondered whether it was a US regulation? Perhaps brands in the UK can put words on their packaging like these than saying that everything is healthy and natural when they were not!

Sister in law and her children loved these Nerds crunchy sweets, and she thought that the sweets are perfect for sneaking into the cinemas! It also came in a Rope version that used jelly to 'glue' the nerds sweets together.

The Everlasting Gobstopper! Unfortunately not the rainbow coloured pyramid I was hoping for, but each layer of the gobstopper has a different colour and flavour to make up for it. You might have to keep removing it from your mouth to see the change though!

Another sugar coated sweets with powdery form inside that is one of my nephew's favourite!

These are like other powdered sweets (love hearts, etc), but we all agreed that they could be quite dangerous as they looked very much like medicines.

The big packets are retailed at £2.59 and can be bought nationwide. We found them selling at a stall in St. Georges Shopping Centre (The Mall) in Preston that sells American imported snacks and drinks. So they shouldn't be too hard to find.

Disclosure: We were sent a selection of the Wonka sweets to try; all opinions are honest and my own
