Carat Manchester Blog Shop

Carat Manchester Blog Shop

Carat Manchester Blog Shop

Last Thursday I was invited to attend Carat Manchester's August Blog Shop. It was mainly targeted for Home and Interior bloggers, but well, since my blog is about anything in our life, and blogger events in Manchester is like gold, plus the fact that we are planning on renovating our house, I thought I should put my name forward when lovely Jean from notSupermum offered to pass interested bloggers' details on. I also met Mary from Mary Poppins! It's so nice to meet fellow bloggers I've chatted online but never met before! It was a shame that our chats were quite brief though!

While we were given tips on how to improve our blog (SEO, affiliates, etc), there was also plenty of opportunities to speak to Carat Manchester's clients, including Matalan (home), Barker and Stonehouse (furniture retailer), Neville Johnson (staircase and furniture design), Hillary (blinds and curtains), and Magnet (kitchen).

Matalan, homeware, tableware

I had no idea that Matalan was doing a Home range, and their Christmas catalogue looked really beautiful, making you want to shop for Christmas already! The lovely ladies has provided some of their products to giveaway, and they even offered me two! That blue bowl was an absolute hit. I saw a few other bloggers and even the staff from Carat  with one. It's not glass thank goodness, or I would have had problem carrying it around with me. It looks really fancy though for only £6, and you can use it to serve food, or turn it into a centre piece. I would have put floating candles or flowers in it, but I had none at home! The tea towel (£1.50) looked very fashionable too, it will go great with some food photography!

Barker and Stonehouse not only stock branded furnitures, but they have a more affordable value range as well. I loved how they put the furnitures together in their pictures, really made me feel like buying the whole room!

The one who impressed me most was Neville Johnson. It was the first time I heard about a company who will transforms your staircase into a more modern/ fashionable staircase within 48 hours without changing the structure. We all agreed that staircase is the most neglected piece in the house. People tend to just paint over it, but by adding glass panels on the side, for example, can really make a drastic change to the room. Now that would have to be part of my dream home!

Hillarys, Blinds, Curtains

Hillarys, Blinds, Curtains

I don't know whether it's me who's old fashioned or what, but I really love the sparkling beads rims that can be added to Hillarys blinds. However, according to their staff, these will soon be discontinued. So if you like them as well, you might wanna buy them soon! They have a huge range of designs, so many that I have no idea what my favourite is! I can understand why people change their curtains every season. They gave away shopping bags with brochures and a pretty USB drive. I would have shown you the bag but we took it straight to the LolliBop festival in London and well, it had to be cleaned.

We had a look at Magnet Kitchens 2 years ago when we had to renovate our kitchen. Loved their gloss range, but at that time there was only Black or White gloss. Now they do blue-ish grey as well, very stylish. Shame I already had my kitchen fitted. They have wide drawers unit that is really wide. I never understood why people want really wide drawers, but I'm already running out of space with my 800mm wide ones! Should have gone for wider huh...

Thanks to Carat Manchester to give me an opportunity to get to know their home and interior brands. It gave me a lot of idea on how to renovate our home, and hopefully soon I can implement some of that inspiration to our house. Matalan is our first stop!
