Jewels of Cleopatra 1 Video Game

Jewels of Cleopatra, PC game, puzzle game

Although my time is limited ever since Abby started school (you would have thought that I have more time for myself, oh no), I still enjoy playing video games, let it be on my phone or PC. I definitely don't have time anymore for games like Guild Wars 2, which is a big hit since Diablo 3 (yes, I'm quite into that kind of games. You'll be surprised by how many violent game players are actually innocent looking girly girls in real life. Not that I'm saying I look like that...), but I still enjoy an easy going brainy/ puzzle game at odd times.

I do like games like Bejeweled, the type where you match 3 or above icons together for points, but it gets boring after a while as they get so repetitive. Jewels of Cleopatra, however, really keeps me interested. Not hooked until I can't do my daily stuff, but interested enough to make me stay in the game while I should only be taking screen shots for this review. (It took me 3 days to take all the screenshots and I ended up playing instead of writing!)

Jewels of Cleopatra has a story, and you guide Cleopatra to the exit of each room in each tomb by matching 3 or more icons together to form a golden path she can walk on. There are treasure boxes on each map to make each stage more fun and tools you can use to make the going easier (gem match, bug spray, etc). But there are also obstacles to hinder your path, for example spiders that cast webs on icons that slows you down and mummies who can sent you straight to the beginning of the map so you'll have to start all over again, etc.

To make the game more interesting, there are fun levels like Scarab race that you can keep playing for bonuses, and a jigsaw puzzle that has a time limit to put together. They are fun, game related and give you a breathing space if you need a break from 'match-making'.

The last stage of each tomb is the hardest one for me. An artifact dealer will race you to get to the artifact. He can walk anywhere, while you have to open up a path for Cleopatra to walk on. My heart rate goes faster in this stage!

Overall it's a fun and brainy game. It doesn't consume your life, but a great time filler for when you need a break while keeping your brain working. The game is retailed at £14.99, which is really not bad. And for a very short time (my fault, should have written this up earlier) you can still catch a 25% off through downloadbuyer.com (until the end of September), which I think is fantastic as you don't have to wait for delivery and you don't have to deal with boxes. Just pay, get a code and download the game.
