Jungle Junction Party

As you know (you must have known if you are following my blog, or Facebook or Twitter!! What do you mean no?!) I was one of the fifteen Jungle Junction Party hosts that hosted a party at home yesterday after school. The campaign was really exciting, especially when the above giant parcel fell through my chimney, and magically exploded into Jungle Junction toys and fun that I could not put back in the box. Seriously, well done to whoever packed the box!

There was so much in the box it took me about an hour to sort everything out. There were play sets for the children to play during the party, including the huge Jungle Junction Play Set, fun Race Launcher Play Set, impressive Taxicrab Boat and educational Wheel Around Fun Set (and one as a prize too!). The race launcher set can also be connected to the main play set, turning it into a massive track.

I had a great time putting the play set together, while Clay had fun destroying it back into pieces. The party kids loved playing with them as well, especially the main set. Some ordered their birthday and Christmas presents already on the spot!

There is a lot to the play sets instead of just a track for the characters to scoot around. There are lifts (main play set and Taxicrab's boat), you can turn the roundabout, river bridge can be lifted, and the kids are absolutely fascinated by the little bell on the Race Launcher. You lift up Bobby's arm, and it will slowly come down, and then 'ting' the hand will hit the bell! It's much more fun than you tinging the bell yourself!

I didn't take the Wheel Around Fun Set's map out in case it gets torn apart but the characters and signs certainly made great addition to the play sets!

There were 5 great prizes to giveaway during the party as well, including 2 Jungle Junction Plush that can roll on their wheels, Wheel Around Fun Set, Triple Figure Play Pack and Road Signs with Bongo & Zooter. I didn't feel right judging the little children's artwork and creativity, but I was very lucky that there were exactly one prize for each child (one couldn't make it and well, Clay wouldn't know he didn't get anything..) so at the end of the party, without announcing who won what, I just distributed each prize to the kids. Everyone was a winner in this house!

There were also toys for the party kids to take home, including Bath Time characters and Character Duo Tubes. Flair was very generous and there were plenty of extra toys to give away. As I had extra 5 packets of fabulous Jelly Belly jelly beans from the lovely Jelly Belly PR (it was for something else but she was happy to donate them for the party), I wrapped half of the bath time characters into a bowl of Jelly Belly jelly beans, turning them into party favours.

I couldn't find the right party bag to put all the fantastic goodies into, so I had to make my own. I'm so not crafty! Anyway. Each bag consists of a tube of character duo tube, a bath time character Jelly Belly jelly bean favour, an extra bath time character, a colouring sheet and a pack of crayons. Flair and Disney really made the children's day yesterday!

Knowing that we are busy mums and we love cakes (the secret to parent bloggers' heart!), the PRs have gone the extra mile by providing us cupcakes, ideas for food, and activities to do during the party as well.

Always trying to be creative with food, I decided to make a food platter for the children to share. I made them into a Jungle Junction Road map, with drained and grated cucumber as grass, stringy cheese as sand, halved party eggs as beetle dung (kids loved them!), cherry tomato road signs, trees made of carrot branches and gem lettuce leaves, hummus as mud puddle and seaweed arrows on the egg and bacon mayo sandwiches to show the directions.

Then I tried making a mossy, slimy drink with this recipe from Diana's Desserts, but the orange flesh I scooped out from the orange cups and the only sorbet I can find changed the top to orange instead of green. Is there ever Autumn in a jungle?? The adults liked it, Abby loved it (she had 3 helpings at least!), but it didn't go down as well with the other kids. They were laughing at my introduction though, and 'yucky, slimy, mossy puddle' enticed anyone to try, just like beetle dung. A shame they didn't like it!

We've set up a colouring and drawing area for the children to colour in the colouring sheets, and drawing their silly signs provided by the PRs. They were all very good and I felt wrong to judge them! So I felt really lucky that I didn't have to.

The party was great fun. The children loved the toys and especially love the Stop and Go game where they have to dance around and do funny moves when they see a sign. There were bits where the children got a bit bored. Some of them loves colouring, others didn't want to participate in any activity but prefer to explore our house. I guess that's always what you get at parties?

Most of the time was great, and we big people had a great chat ourselves too. At the end, the kids all went home happy and tired, and I felt like I just had a massive workout! Thank you Flair and Jungle Junction again for the great opportunity to hold this party, and thank you PRs for the fantastic campaign! The Twitter #JungleJunctionToyParty with UKMums.tv was trending too, great to be part of it!
