Moxie Girlz Magic Hair Colour Studio

Moxie Girlz, Moxie Girlz Magic Hair Color Studio, hair design dolls

Out of all the current dolls on the market, my (yes, me) favourite is still the Moxie Girlz. Maybe it's because they look like my favourite doll when I was 8, or simply because they are really cute and pretty in my eyes! They have recently launched a few new ranges, including fairies, pets, and the Magic Hair Colour Studio we were sent to review.

The Magic Hair Colour Studio includes a Moxie Girlz (Sophina as shown in the pictures or Avery), 2 hair extension clips, a hair brush, a tube of glitter gel and applicator, 2 colour pastels and a colour press. All of them to be used on the Moxie Girlz and can be used on the child themselves too!

I really like Sophina's outfit, very trendy and bright! She's got lovely hair, ready to be decorated. Her hair seems less easy to get tangled up and very easy to brush through.

The colour pastels and press is quite simple to use. Just clip a pastel onto the press and make sure that the pastel side in the press lies on top of the hair. Then gently press and pull to colour the hair.  Initially I thought we were given red and green pastels, but the colours came out lighter. The colour can look a bit harsh at first after applying on the hair, which can be softened by brushing them after. Children can colour strands of hair on the top for solid coloured streaks, or to make highlights like the above picture, by colouring the hair underneath the top layer and then brush through.

The glitter from the glitter gel stays on nicely after the gel has dried. Everything can be washed off with luke warm water of course, and new styles can be applied again after.

The hair extensions look better if clipped underneath layers of hair to hide the clip, which is quite difficult to do on the doll, but not a problem for the child's own hair. If your child have straight hair, you can simply iron it straight to match (the extensions come wavy).

There is much more you can do with dolls nowadays, and colouring their hair instead of just putting hair clips on is certainly more fun! I also tried the pink pastel on Abby's black hair and not only did it work, the colour shows up nicely! I wonder whether they sell a packet of refills with different colours? Would love to get that for Abby if not for Sophina and Avery! The Moxie Girlz Magic Hair Colour Studio is retailed at £24.99 and are available at all good toy stores.
