Mega Bloks First Builders

Mega Bloks First Builders, construction bricks, construction toys

Since Abby was 2, she was already very good with construction toys, and has built her first hammer soon after we bought her her first lot of construction bricks. When Clay was born, we had to pack a lot of them away, so he's more exposed to the imagination play toys instead (which we kept lying around).

When The Entertainer offered us Mega Bloks First Builders range to review, we thought that this could be a great way to find out how well Clay does with construction play.

Clay's favourite toys are vehicles, so when he saw the Dump Truck, he couldn't resist and grabbed hold of it as soon as he can. He even brought it to me so I can remove the packaging for him! I showed him that Dylan can be removed and how to use the dump truck to pour blocks out, which made him giggle.

When Abby got home I let them both play with all the blocks and you can tell that Abby is really interested in them. She was actually looking for a manual telling her what and how to build, but there was none. So she got on to building her favourite tall building, while I stuck the stickers on for the ABC spell set.

According to the sticker sheet instructions, each pair of stickers belong to the same block. So we have a 3 dot block with a dog on one side and cat on the other, for example. But after following the instructions, we couldn't quite work out what the logic was for the specific details. When we put the alphabet D, O, G together, the back of it does not spell C, A, T, which both me and Abby thought it should, and it would make the specific stickers instructions logical. Anyway, we still loved the idea of having alphabet and pictured blocks.

As we kept the Mega Bloks in the living room, I made a point of keeping them tidied away in the eco-friendly bags, which are definitely a plus point. They are long lasting and really handy. But Clay loves his toys covering the whole floor, and every time the living room seem too empty, he asked me to open the bags and pour the blocks out. I think he loves how colourful the blocks are! I suppose it's also easier for him to play with them whenever he likes.

The Mega Bloks First Builders blocks are really easy to assemble, light weight and easy to hold for young toddlers. It's also easy to break them apart, which is good for toddlers with baby power.

Overall we think that Mega Bloks are colourful and fun to play with, encourage construction and creative play, and we love the fantastic range they do.
