A Fantastic Time at Blog on 2013

Event in the North of England, MOSI Event, Blogs Up North Event

Last weekend I've attended one of the best bloggers' event I've been! Thanks to Tired Mummy of Two Laura for all the hard work in putting the very well balanced Blog On together, we get to learn things through discussions instead of seminars, and had plenty of time to mingle and know bloggers and brands better. I haven't even mention the really big and fab goodie bag (and a separate one just for sweets from Swizzles Matlow!) that we couldn't wait to dig in, resulting me to have forgotten to take pictures first! What caught our attention most was the WoW RSPCA My Pocket Pets pack, LEGO Friends Emma and Ice Cream Van pack, Bananagrams' Appletters and Pairs in Pears, codes for a free family pass to Chill Factor Snow Park, free personalised planner and £30 towards a Cewe photobook, and many many more!

The event was held at Manchester's Museum of Science and Industry (MOSI), which we've been before but I didn't know that they have a great conference and event venue on the top floor of the main building! Several of us did a pre-Blog On meet up on Saturday to do a final help out with some minor things. Blog On was looking amazing already from outside! I think Laura didn't realise that she's more organised than she gave herself credit for, so there really wasn't much to do!

We then grouped up with several more and had a fantastic evening at Red Hot World Buffet, who has kindly offered us a 10% discount without even asking for anything in return!

The meal and company were fantastic, and I was well impressed with their function room too! It was bright, and the long table was curved with a special Victorian style (I think!) chair placed in the middle for Da Boss! I would have tried out their fabulous looking cocktails as well but perhaps next time!

On Sunday morning, I wore my lovely Kiyonna Retro Glam Lace Dress from Curvety, which has received several compliments! Thanks to the really skillful Emily from A Mummy Too, I've got some really lovely and professional pictures taken too!

Many of us has arrived earlier hoping to help out, but Laura and many others have already got everything sorted. Before the introduction Rahul from Carat Manchester, who I've met during one of their fantastic blog shops, has kindly showed me the Kaleidoscope's stand where I signed up for an appointment with the Colour Stylist Ciara O'Grady. She has told me that my colours are deep and cool! I got it right on the day then (black and purple), phew!

After the introduction, we had a session of great photography tips from John at Photo Walkthrough. His tips and examples were really inspiring, how I wish I have brought my SONY bridge camera to try out some of the techniques!

For the other sessions, Laura has cleverly split us into 3 groups, each attending one of the three sessions at a different time, so none of us had to make a difficult decision of which session to attend, and miss the other discussion topics. With a smaller group, the interaction was way better and we felt more included.

I was in group yellow and my sessions in order were: Law & Lies, Building Relationships and Beautiful Blogging. We all had a good chat and laugh in each of the sessions, and have learned plenty by interacting with the speakers. There was lots of great questions asked and fabulous tips passed on to us. We were even served some scrumptious fudge made by Helen from Attachment Mummy in the Beautiful Blogging session!

With the fantastic sponsors and MOSI's help, we were only charged for the lunch, which was made with quality ingredients! The bread was soft and really fresh, and I enjoyed them all! I had a couple more of the chutney one because it was that good! Even the coffee and tea was really good!

I haven't taken a picture of each of the stands, but there were plenty of them and all amazing! I kind of regretted not visiting Black Sheep Wools demo stand as I just realised how much I wanted to learn crochet! Sodastream, Legoland Discovery Centre, Swizzles Matlow, Kaleidoscope, Hilary Blinds, Vitamix, Laithwaite's Wine and Clic Sargent were all fantastic stands and I really enjoyed chatting with most of them. Hopefully I get a chance to work with them soon too as they all sound amazing and have a lot of campaigns in store for the near future that will certainly excite you and your family too!

Laura has organised an amazing tombola and raffle as well, and for a £10 donation to Clic Sargent I've won a popcorn maker, mystery bag, Brave wallet, Moshi Monsters pack, notebook and BodyShop selection. I normally don't win anything but yesterday I think I've won 10 years worth of prizes! I'll probably have to wait for another 10 years for the next lot of luck!

Overall, the whole event was fantastic. What makes it even better was that through Blogs Up North (Blog On event organising network), quite a lot of us already know each other before hand through other Blogs Up North events, so it was much more easier going and friendly. I had fun with people I already know and have met and chatted with many more that I've only chatted online! The only feedback I can give is to have maybe another 5-10 minutes on each session as none of us wanted to leave!

Me and many more has already done a pre-sign up for the next Blog On event, if you have missed it this year, make sure you don't miss it next!
