TOMY Lamaze New Non Spill Trainer Cup and Freddie the FireFly

Lamaze feeding, non spill cup, sippy cup

With Abby being 5 and Clay being 2, we have gone through a lot of drinking cups for babies and toddlers. As we like our kids to drink whenever they want, cups had to be no spill for us. We've tried a couple of brands before and although they are both fantastic, the additional attachments that makes the cup non spill has caused some cleaning problem for us and we can only keep a close eye on the cups, making sure that every part are cleaned properly to prevent mould growing or dirty stuff getting stuck in gaps.

When TOMY offered me to review the new Lamaze Non Spill Trainer Cup, I was actually looking for new cups for Clay, as he has chewed through the tips of the other ones, so these came in at the right time.

What amazes me most about the cups is that there is no additional attachments at all to make it non spill. There is only 2 parts, the lid and the cup, making it very easy to clean. The 2 air gaps are part of the lid and could not be removed.

I filled the cup up and tried turning it upside down, but there was nothing leaking at all. When I shook it really hard, only a tiny few drops gave in and fell. I thought that it meant that Clay had to use more effort to drink from it, but it doesn't seem like he's struggling.

The only problem I can think of is that, because the cup isn't transparent and it's fairly light in weight as well, I had to open it to make sure that there is enough water for him to drink. If they can make it slightly transparent it will be a perfect cup! It would also be great if they can make a bigger version for older toddlers as well (Clay drinks a lot!)

The cups come in the orange Freddie the Firefly and the pink My Friend Emily versions, each can hold 210ml of liquid are are retailed at £3.99 each only and are suitable from 6 months onwards. I can't tell yet whether they will grow mould easily as the other cups I've tried, but at this stage I think that it's a great non spill cup.

I was also sent Freddie the Firefly, who I believe is one of Lamaze's classic character. He's really adorable and very attractive for babies. Not only is he colourful in the front, the back's black and white patterns are said to be the most eye catching to babies' eyes. His main body is very soft, while his wings are crinkly, with one featuring a baby safe mirror, another a crochet pocket where a teether fits. Another wing has a squaker as well. It;s head rattles while there are 2 loops dangling from its tail, which can be stretched when pulled, encouraging babies' motor and sensory skills. As all the other Lamaze baby toys, they can be hung on a pram or cot, and all the Lamaze gym, walker, etc.

Freddie the Firefly is retailed at £11.99 and will certainly keep babies entertained for long.
