Walkers Mighty Lights

Walkers Crisps, healthy crisps, low fat crisps

As you may know from my previous Walkers Hoops and Crosses post, crisps is one of the snacks we can't do without. We have tried all sorts of brands, including those from supermarkets' own brands and overseas (we have stocked up a huge pile of crisps from Holland!), but the brand that we will never go without is Walkers. In fact, we are big fans of its overseas version Lay's and Smiths (the ones we stocked up in Holland) too!

Although Walkers has created a fantastic range of crisps already, they never stopped improving their recipes and developing new range of crisps. The latest addition to the big family is the Mighty Lights, a low fat crinkle cut crisps that are still packed with flavour.

The Mighty Lights contains 114 kcal, 4.8% fat (30% less fat than standard potato crisps on average), 0.5g of fat which saturates and 0.28g of salt in each 25g pack, and it contains no artificial colours, preservatives nor MSG. It is also suitable for vegetarians. We were sent Light Salted, Cheese & Onion and Roast Chicken flavours to try, and they are all surprisingly good!

We don't normally do low fat food, unless it's naturally low in fat, because the flavour is normally not as good as the full fat ones. But if no one told me that the Mighty Lights are lower in fat, I would have just thought that it's a new Crinkle Cut range where the flavours is slightly different (equally good of course!). The crinkles allows maximum flavours, and I love the thickness of the crisps as well, which gives it just enough bite without hurting my gums.

Hubby normally wouldn't go for Lightly Salted flavour but he actually enjoyed the Might Lights Lightly Salted! Kids really enjoyed them too, and at least I know that it's healthier for them to eat than the original ones. I still prefer to give them the Walkers Hoops and Crosses as a snack, but we all need a variety to keep us interested.

You can buy the Walkers Mighty Lights now from ASDA and Tesco for £1.00 per 6 x25g packs.

Disclosure: We were sent a new range of crisps to try and review; all opinions are honest and my own
