Stick Dog Wants a Hot Dog Review and Competition - CLOSED

Stick Dog Wants a Hot Dog book, children book, children comedy book

Being a busy mum, it's quite hard to find time to read a book, and I still have an outstanding book to finish off! I do still love to see what's new however, and as Stick Dog Wants a Hot Dog seems funny and easy to read, we decided to give it a go!

Stick Dog Wants a Hot Dog is a book written by Tom Watson for children 6 - 7 years old, though Abby (5) couldn't put the book down this morning and let out a few giggles here and there, so I take it that she is enjoying it as well!

The book is about Stick Dog and his friends going on a mission to steal some (actually a whole lot of!) scrumptious smelling hot dogs from a hot dog kiosk. They went through lots of planning, and ended up having one of them getting "dognapped", while a group of Frankfurter Assault Squadron tried to get to those delicious hot dogs first!

Initially I was a bit annoyed with the way Stick Dog and his friends talk. One is the smarty pants while the rest are just being silly. I thought it was the way the author Tom Watson narrated his book, and didn't realise until later that he has purposely written their dialog this way. Once I got passed that, I found it lighthearted to read and the author has a great sense of humour. Obviously, as the book was written for younger children, I'm probably taking things too seriously. In fact, that might just be the way kids talk! (I'll never be a good teacher) Abby likes the dog's perception of human, it is very silly but the idea of the dogs thinking that we are better looking and useful that way is really funny!

Stick Dog Wants a Hot Dog is out now and can be bought from book stores (rrp £5.99) and Amazon UK. Or you can enter the competition below for a chance to win a copy of the book!
