Brand New Pocket-money LEGO Range - LEGO Mixels

Launching tomorrow is the brand new affordable (rrp £3.00 per pack only!), fun and collectible LEGO Mixels Series 1! I saw the range when I was at the Toy Fair and I already found them really cheeky yet adorable! The price for up to 70 pieces was attractive and we all knew that it's gonna be a hit, especially with the Mixels showing on Cartoon Network!

If you haven't heard of Mixels before, which is a new show this month:

"the Mixels characters from different tribes must pit their creative prowess against their foes, the Nixels - annoying, colourless creatures of destruction who try to tear down and break the tribes apart"

Mixels has the ability to join together and transform into a bigger Mixel, just like the LEGO Mixels. Each packet will show you what you can get by combining 3 LEGO Mixels of the same tribe. But don't let that stop your imagination as in the show Mixels, characters from different tribes can be mixed together too!

Abby really enjoyed building her LEGO Mixels. After she's done the yellow LEGO Mixel Volectro (code 41508), which is the wild-haired Electroid, she has asked to build the black LEGO Mixel Krader (code 41503), who is super strong with a wrecking ball first. While she was having all the fun, I thought that I deserve some fun too! So (with Abby's permission *ehem*) I built the red LEGO Mixel Vulk (code 41501), who is strong but a dim-witted Infernite.

When I got to the end of building Vulk, I found out that I was building something that didn't belong to Vulk himself. After looking up on LEGO Mixel's site, I realised that it was their enemy Nixel! How cute! We didn't know a Nixel looked so cute (we have to change channel to Cartoon Network!), and Abby even wanted to collect a whole army of them! No where on the packet indicates that a Nixel was hiding inside the pack, so it was a really fun surprise! Not long later, Abby also found another Nixel hiding in Krader's pack (they are part of those packs, not randomly placed)! Awesome!

I think that this is an amazing LEGO range. Not only are they affordable and cute with surprises too (I've probably spoiled it for you now but hey, I'm sure there are more and I have no idea which others packs will come with them), the new LEGO elements such as eyes (popping out and rolling around ones too!), teeth and ball joints are fascinating, and there are plenty of characters to collect!

After we've built the Mixels, I wanted to have a go at building my own ultimate Mixel. He has 3 part bendable legs and arms, and 360 degree turnable body. He's got a massive mouth, spikey nails and mini claws everywhere (will be handy for housework!).

I used LEGO bricks that came from the 3 packs, and there were still plenty of bricks left. I wanted to make it tall but the body weight was making his twistable legs bend, so I had to figure out how to keep him balanced. It's a whole new level of LEGO building when you start thinking about balancing and weight! I now know why Dinosaurs have bendy legs lol.

Series 1 will be out tomorrow, which contains 3 Mixels tribes, each with 3 characters to collect. The good thing is that this isn't a blind pack so you know exactly what you are buying. Series 2 and 3 will be out later this year and we are already excited about them as they contains tribes in our favourite colours!

If you like the show Mixels and LEGO, you wouldn't want to miss the launch tomorrow!
