Interplay Treasure Box Craft Party

Interplay Treasure Box Craft Party, What to do on Play Dates, craft party

Since Reception year Abby has been having little friends coming over for play dates. To be honest I'm not very good at entertaining children, especially when they aren't mine! Most of the time I'd leave them to play in Abby's room, while wondering why I'm not like her friends' mums who would do things together with the girls.

When Interplay offered me a chance to review their Treasure Box Craft Party, I immediately said yes as I can see myself doing this together with the girls! We had it all planned, we'll be inviting a couple of friends over for a play date, have a craft party, perhaps some games afterwards if there is still time, then food before they are ready to go back home. But the mini party had to be postponed till next week, and since Clay was really eager to paint during the half term, we decided to open the box and have a relaxing craft party between the 3 of us instead. As there is enough materials for 6 children, we will still be able to hold the mini party next week. I'll just have to give Clay a piece of paper instead!

Interplay Treasure Box Craft Party (rrp £19.99, suitable for age 5 to 8 years, up to 6 children to play) contains 6 plain heart shaped treasure boxes, 6 paint brushes, 3 pink paint pots, 3 purple paint pots, 4 sheets of assorted self-adhesive jewels, tissue papers, 6 packets of beads, 6 charms, 6 elasticated cords and an instruction sheet.

The first activity is to paint and decorate the treasure boxes, then make a bracelet to go inside the treasure box. On average, each child can have about 16 to 17 self-adhesive jewels to decorate their box, 20 beads and 1 charm for their bracelets.

Both Abby and Clay were really enjoying themselves (probably because they normally don't get to do painting at home!). I think this is Clay's first time painting and you can tell how fascinated he was! Abby had put in more thoughts about her design, and has certainly put in most effort in her box than us!

The paint is fantastic and goes on the box nicely, but for girls who aren't keen in pink, it might be better if there is a 3rd colour to choose from as well. I think perhaps 2 pots of each colour would be great as each pot is filled up generously. We only used 2/3 of purple and 1/3 of pink between the 3 of us and Abby did use a lot of paint on her box!

Interplay have also included a pattern for star, flower, heart and moon on the sheet which children can use as a guide for their own design. For the slightly less creative ones, the patterns will definitely help inspire them.

While waiting for the boxes to dry, me and Abby got on with the bracelet making. The colour choices of the beads were fantastic, and it's quite easy for the kids to make the bracelet. At the same time they can work on their pattern and sequencing skills too! The only tricky bit was the knotting, which the adults can help of course. It would be even better if there were charm rings included as well to make the charms more dangly.

Overall we think that it's a fantastic party box. With 2 activities to do, and something that's like a personalised gift to bring home, what more can a child ask for? It's certainly perfect for me who has no idea about what to do with play dates!

Interplay also have other Craft Party kits available. I think we'd be interested to do the Pirate Party (rrp £24.99) next! Which includes making a treasure chest, pirate hat and eye patch. The kids will also get 6 doubloons each for the treasure chest, wow!

If you are like me who has no clue what to do with the kids, or you are looking for party ideas, Interplay's Craft Party is what you need! For 6 children it works out to be less than £4 per child, really worth it!
