Plush Craft Fabric by Number - Purr-fect Pillow and Mosaic by Numbers Giveaway CLOSED

Plush Craft Fabric by Numbers Purr-fect Pillow, Make your own pillow, cat cushion

I met Asobi Toys at the Toy Fair in January and was immediately attracted by their Mosaic by Numbers and Plush Craft Fabric by Numbers range. They were bright, colourful and fun, it was hard not to stop by their stand and take a closer look! When I did, I knew immediately that both range will be popular (if not already), especially their new Plush Craft Fabric by Numbers range!

The lovely people at Asobi Toys has kindly sent me the Purr-fect Pillow to review, and have offered 2 fabulous prizes as well to giveaway to 2 lucky readers! Read on if you'd like to win either a Disney Princess Mosaic by Numbers or Pirate Mosaic by Numbers!

The Plush Craft Fabric by Number is a completely new idea yet so familiar too! It's one of those "Why didn't I think of it?!" thing - if you can do painting and mosaics by numbers, why not with fabric?! Their design is so simple yet worked really well!

The Purr-fect Pillow Fabric by Numbers Kit (approx £12.00) includes a ready made cushion that has a kind of plastic surface (on the face area only) with numbered holes, a packet of fabric squares in 4 patterns (2 silver dots, 2 plain), a pair of eyes and a mouth/ nose fabric labels, a pick, 3 pairs of Velcro circles and a fabric/ number guide.

Plush Craft pillow is really easy to make. Simply take a piece of fabric and place it on top of a matching number on the cushion. Use the pick to push the fabric into the hole and the fabric will stay in, and look like a little fluffy flower. Keep doing this until all the holes are filled. Stick the Velcro circle stickers on each of the eye and nose fabric, and the Velcro's matching part on the pillow's eyes and mouth area, then Velcro them together.

Tips:
It's easier if children (or you!) start pushing fabrics in from a corner of the pillow and work your way out, making sure that the next number filled is right next to the previous one, otherwise it's quite easy to miss the odd numbers that'll be hiding under all the fluffy bundles.

It is also best to push the middle of each piece of fabric into the holes, as this will push the fabric deeper into the hole, and they will hold better and look neater too. There are plenty of extra fabric pieces given though that you can keep in case of missing fabrics.

It can be slightly difficult to push fabric pieces in along the edge of the pillow as there is less support underneath. It helps by sticking the pick into the hole without a piece of fabric first, then push the fabric in.

I think the trickiest part is trying to keep the Velcro stickers stuck on the fabric labels as well as the cushion. The Velcro held very well together, but the sticky side of them not quite. Ideally they are stuck on properly the first time as the more you try to stick them on again, the less sticky they become. It might help if you stick and press them down for a while to let it settle down before Velcro the eyes and mouth onto the cushion. And try to prevent younger siblings from trying to pull them off!

When I received the cutie pie and did some test shots, I was really tempted to finish the whole project myself. It's really addictive! But I know Abby would love it, and it's a very rewarding achievement as she gets to cuddle it after she's done. I wasn't expecting her not wanting to have dinner until she's finished her pillow though!

Abby managed to finish her project before bed time, named her Kitsy and took her straight to bed. She even cooed and patted Kitsy, feeling sorry for her when I accidentally dropped her on the floor (face down).

Clay was really fascinated at what Abby was doing and I think he'd love to have his own crafted pillow! I'm sure Abby wouldn't mind making another one for her little brother. I wonder what I should get him, the Fish, the Owl, or this Plush Craft Mr. Monster! Ooo!! I WANT!

Plush Craft Pillow Kits are available now online and from good craft and toy stores.
