LEGO Family Blogger Spring Box 2014

LEGO Spring 2014, LEGO The Movie Cuckoo Palace, LEGO City Mobile Police Unit

We were soo excited when we've received our first LEGO Family Blogger box! It is packed with fab new LEGO sets and there is something for every one of us, including Clay (can you guess which one is his favourite?)! We were sent 4 boxes of LEGO playsets to play with, and although each of us have our own preferences, we liked and enjoyed playing with all of them!

We've been eyeing on this The LEGO Movie: Cloud Cuckoo Palace (rrp £17.99) set ever since they were launched in the shops. Abby absolutely adore Unikitty and Cuckoo Land, and wanted to recreate the clouds and rainbow as soon as we got home from the cinema! You can understand why this was the first box of LEGO she chose to build!

Watching Abby build the Cuckoo Palace made me and Clay feel really cheerful, and I can tell that Abby was really enjoying it as well! It felt like building a colourful candy shop! We especially love the cloud bricks, flower catapult and snail. We obviously love Unikitty but unlike herself in the LEGO Movie, her head does fall off easily. Maybe I should bring out our Kragle... Abby built the whole set on her own, and I only helped a bit with the sun as she misunderstood the manual a little bit, which happens when she decided to watch a bit of TV in between!

Talking about Unikitty, we are hoping that LEGO will release the angry Unikitty! She's so funny when she's mad! I'm tempted to get the LEGO MetalBeard's Sea Cow as a sea-sick Unikitty is included in the set! It cost £169.99 though so we will have to save up!

I couldn't bear the sight of Abby having all the fun, so while she was building Cuckoo Palace, I asked for her permission to let me build LEGO Friends Emma's Lifeguard Post (rrp £9.99). Honestly speaking, although I love most LEGO range, I do have a soft spot for LEGO Friends as I really love the LEGO Friends minifigures and the pastel colour bricks. I'm currently collecting purple and light blue bricks so I can build my own creations with them!

Emma's Lifeguard Post is one of the more affordable set, perfect as a little friends' birthday gift. A cute dolphin comes with the set as well, adding to our LEGO Friends' pets collection! Although simple, there are enough here for role play, including first aid kit, rescue can, binocular, flippers, a red and green flag (the LEGO sharks will come in handy!), and even foamy waves! I also love it that even though there are only 5 LEGO Friends, they come in different hair styles and clothes most of the time.

Straight after building the Cuckoo Palace, Abby started on the LEGO DC Superheroes Batman: The Penguin Face Off (rrp £11.99). She wanted to save LEGO City's Mobile Police Unit for the weekend when she can do it together with her daddy, but also because she really loved the LEGO Batman 2 game and movie! She hasn't encountered The Penguin before, but we were all fascinated with the crazy duck boat and the robot penguins! My favourite apart from the robot penguins is the blue diamond, so pretty! Like the LEGO Movie and Mixels range, new bricks has been used in the collection as well as the classics.

Abby did pretty well and only left 1 penguin to build before she became too tired. I was really impressed that she did so much straight after school! She really enjoyed her LEGO building time, and she is really happy that she is one of the LEGO family blogger child!

At this stage, Clay is still happy to watch us build something for him to play with. I was quite surprised with how patient he can be while waiting for his turn to play. His favourite out of the 4 sets we've received is the LEGO City Mobile Police Unit (rrp 29.99), have you guessed? The new Police range has modified their vehicle design, and they are definitely fancier than before. They've also introduced ball and chain to the series to chain down the villains.

Although not the most expensive in the range, we were really impressed with this set. Not only is the mobile unit big, it comes with a lot of features too. The trailer can be detached and comes with a support leg, lots of doors and even the top of the trailer can be opened up. We especially love the hidden map and coffee machine! Maybe because me and hubby are a bit more old school, we would have felt fully satisfied if we could build the base of the trailer and the big side doors ourselves as well with smaller bricks.

Overall, we were really happy with the new range of LEGO. I think the Mobile Police Unit is the most value for money out of the 4, and it's obvious to say that it was Clay and hubby's favourite set, where me and Abby adore Unikitty's Cuckoo Palace most. We are also very impressed with the new bricks and designs. We all had our share of fun reviewing the 4 LEGO sets, and are really happy with the choices the PR has given us. We can't wait to see what's in store for us next!
