Butlins Bognor Regis - The Food

Butlins Bognor Regis, Butlins restaurants, what to eat at Butlins

And here is my third and hopefully NOT my last post on our trip to Butlins' Bognor Regis! It's been a while but we enjoyed our break so much we can still remember a lot of it. Even Abby is still asking occasionally when we are going back to Butlins, and every time she sees Butlins advert on TV, it reminded her of the fun she had there!

I've written a post about our first trip to Butlins, with a bit more details about what to prepare and what to expect, as well as a post on Bognor Regis' latest hotel - the Wave hotel. As a foodie, I have to have a post just for the food of course! Our most frequent question when we go out (even when we are at home actually) is: "What/ Where should we eat next?" As there were so many choices at Butlins, we realised that we've spent a good amount of time thinking just that!

First cotton candy machine we ever saw. It was very cool and it has Abby's stamp of approval on it!

When we first arrived the resort, it was quite late in the afternoon and the kids, although very excited, were both really hungry. As I wasn't familiar with the place and there was so much distraction, we fell back to the safest option in sight - Burger King. We finally got familiar with the surroundings on the second day and my goodness, there were so many places to eat in just one resort! There was over 10 eateries, and I've heard that they've introduced more since we've last visited! We've only visited 4 of them!

We did kind of regret buying a meal at Burger King so late in the day, even though the food was as yummy as ever (it would be yummy pancakes next time!). By the time we had to go for dinner, we couldn't eat a single bite even though we really wanted to! After the few days at Butlins, we finally realised that we really only need 2 meals a day as both the breakfast and dinner buffets were really filling. A very light snack in between is really all we need for lunch.

As we were staying at the Wave Hotel, which is situated right next to The Deck restaurant, we spent most of our meals there. The restaurant is big with lots of room to walk around, and there were several food stations so there was hardly any queues at all, and everyone got their food fairly quickly. There were lots of food choices and everything looked delicious, so it's very easy to over eat! On the first day we could hardly eat anything as we were still full from our late lunch, but breakfast and another dinner were both enjoyable, and there were plenty of time for you to eat as well.

If you wonder whether you can take away food from the buffet restaurant, yes you can! With young kids who have spent the whole day playing, it's easy for them to fall asleep during meal times. The restaurants are considerate enough to keep takeaway boxes for these occasions. I'm not sure about ordering room service, but the staff we met are all very friendly, so I'm sure they can accommodate your needs.

Although we love the flow at The Deck where there is no queues at all, we tried the Kaleidoscope on our second day and we absolutely loved it! The food looked nicer, and the choices were fancier as well. We would have loved to visit it for the rest of our meals too but there was a really long queue for the hot food, so if you are planning to watch a show at say 7pm, it might be best to eat very early, or visit another restaurant. We would definitely go back again next time though, as we will be booking shows to see during the day instead of at night!

Wave Hotel Soho Cafe:

Another eatery we've tried was the Soho Cafe inside the Wave Hotel. It looked like a very posh cafe, and since there weren't too many people there, it felt much more relaxing, and you can really enjoy a lovely drink with peace while the kids continue their fun in the Games Port nearby. With all the excitement going on in the resort, a moment of peace to calm everyone down is definitely needed!

As I said before, there are a lot of places to eat at Butlins Bognor Regis (and I'm sure in other Butlins resorts as well), and we've only visited a few of them. Whether you like your meals simple or fancy, early or late, there is at least one that can accommodate your need. You just need to spend a bit more time in finding out which restaurant suits you. Again, the staffs and receptionists are really helpful, just ask them what you want to know and they can help you with your decision making.

We'll be looking forward to our next visit for sure! For now, you can check out our holiday break highlights here:
