Glossybox UK July 2014 - Stars and Stripes

Beauty boxes tend to arrive around the same time, so there will be quite a few beauty posts coming up!

This is my first ever Glossybox. Main reason why i got it is so that I can do a compare with Birchbox and see which suits me most. It's proven to be a bit difficult as I'm liking both July boxes! I like Birchbox's sling pouch, but I love Glossybox's packaging more. The box is thick and sturdy, no wonder people can use 4-5 of them to make a DIY cosmetics organiser! I also love the presentation inside, it looks just like a gift!

This month Glossybox UK has an American theme - Stars and Stripes, and brings subscribers a range of lovely beauty products from America. To my surprise, the box contains 4 full size products that every box contains (one of them in different colour) and the 5th random product (ie not everyone gets the same), although a travel size sample, is from the popular American brand Tarte! It seems like I'm in luck this month!

My Glossybox came with the following:

Bellapierre Cosmetics Ltd Mineral Lipstick in Ruby   rrp £20.00
Absolute New York Perfecting Eyeshadow Primer  Approx £2.33
Carmex Lip Balm £2.60
Color Club Nail Polish - Glossy Seal   Approx £4.96
Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes 4-in-1 Mascara   Sample size worth approx. £6.31

Each Glossybox normally comes with a magazine, but it seems to be missing from this month's box (I haven't seen it in other people's pictures either). The box of products is worth approx. £36.20, and you pay £13.25 with the basic monthly subscription (including p&p).

I like the July box mainly because it contains 4 full size products, and I'm more than happy with a travel size mascara, so to me that's a box of 5 full size products. Although I'm not really keeping all of them, I'm still glad to have the opportunity to try them out.

Bellapierre Cosmetics Ltd Mineral Lipstick in Ruby
I do like the high pigmented lipstick, though the red (I'm glad it wasn't the orange) is too strong for me. I was hoping that I'd get the pink lipstick as it's more subtle but you can't have everything really.

Absolute New York Perfecting Eyeshadow Primer
The primer comes in a tube and rabbit foot wand like a lip gloss. I'm not sure whether it's just moist or it has a sheer tone to it. I'll have to try it out on my eye to see how it works, but the texture is light so I'm not minding this.

Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes 4-in-1 Mascara
This mascara was the one that made me extra happy with the July Glossybox. I have heard lots of good things about Tarte cosmetics so I'm really eager to try it out. As promised, my eyelashes has become fuller, longer and curlier, though the smell was a bit off putting. I was contemplating whether I should use it to replace my new found love - Benefit It's Real Mascara, until 3 hours later. I decided not to, as the mascara has become heavier and heavier on my eyes, which was a bit annoying and disappointing.

I didn't try the other 2 products as I'm not really keen in the lip balm and the nail varnish isn't really my colour. Overall I'm still happy with the box as I was pleasantly surprised and I liked what I saw in the box. I got to try 3 products that I really wanted to, and 4 if the nail varnish was my colour.

I read somewhere saying that Glossybox will be celebrating their birthday with the August box, but there was only one source so I'm not 100% sure whether it's true or not. We'll see!

Favourite product: Tarte Cosmetics Mascara
Products I like: 3/5
Products I'll consider buying again: 0/5
Products I'll pass on: 4/5

Remember that the whole point of beauty boxes is to try something new and be surprised.
