When it comes to boring things like fixing things around home, there is always a way to make it more fun. Sugru, the self-setting rubber is one of those products that can help you, just make sure that children at home doesn't play with it, as they are playdough for adults only!

We were sent a Sugru 8 Mini Packs (£12.99) to review, which comes with 2 red, 2 blue, 2 yellow, 1 white and 1 black Sugrus, each weighing 5grams. It sets like any flexible silicone rubber and is waterproof. It can also withstand -50 to 180 degree Celcius. Can be removed after it's cured (dried and set) by using a knife to cut most of it off, then use finger nails and tissue paper to remove the rest.

To use it to set something in place or make something more manageable, simply take a piece of Sugru dough, or mix it to the colour you prefer, then stick and shape it to how you like/ need it. You have up to 30 minutes to work on it, and it sets in approx. 24 hours.

Although they are all basic colours, the fun begins when you start mixing them into different ones! The pack even comes with colour recipes, so you won't need to waste lots to get the colour right. I do think that it's worth getting the black and white pack as you'll need lots of those for mixing colours and shades, and they are the most common colour at home too.

The most common thing that we need to use Sugru for in this house is to keep cables in place. There is cables everywhere and Sugru makes it so much easier for us to keep them tidy! The flexibility the cured Sugru provides makes it easier for us to maneuver the cables too. There are lots of other things you can use Sugru for as well - heel padding inside your new shoes, giving things a better grip or support like tablet case stand and bottom of mugs and plates, etc. And perhaps the base of the bath tub to make it safer for us to stand on too!

The only thing I'm not really keen on is the fume that it releases when it hasn't dried yet. It's not so strong that you can smell it from far, but when you put your nose really close to it, it smell like flammables. So I'd definitely keep it away from children, and although you can easily wipe the residue off your hands (it really is just like playdough), I'd recommend washing your hands properly after use.

While figuring out what else we can use Sugru with at home, I couldn't resist mixing colours! They are so pretty! At this rate we definitely need a refill! You can find more ideas here.
