Sylvanian Families - Walnut Squirrel Family

Sylvanian Families, Collectible dolls, Walnut Squirrel Family

Have you encountered any toys that are a must have for the adult you? I have, and Sylvanian Families are one of them. They are made with attention to detail collectible animal figures that are so adorable and fluffy that I have always wanted them when I was young. Their playsets never failed to amaze us as they are so realistic!

We didn't start collecting until Abby spotted her cousin's collection and she wanted a set for herself, which was the perfect excuse for me of course! Our collection isn't as big as my niece's, but enough for the kids to enjoy their role plays. If we have more space in the house, we might expand our collection further. Sylvanian Families has kindly sent us a Walnut Squirrel Family to review, aren't they cute!

The Walnut Squirrel Family (rrp £15.99) is one of the newer family addition to Sylvania (fictional village), and I just adore their fluffy, bushy tails! They have a cute pattern on their head, just like real squirrels. I want to say that they are the cutest, but most of the Sylvanian Families are cute! They are definitely a welcoming addition to the collection though!

Like all the other families, they are very well made, with the cutest quality clothing. Sylvania is designed basing on Britain in the 70s, hence the traditional style. You can see a wider style choices in their furniture and accessories collection though. One day I'll start collecting their France and Japan only editions, which are packaged differently and have special sets that you can't get anywhere else unless you find the speciality stockists.

Like LEGO, a lot of adults I know doesn't see the Sylvanian Families as toys, because they are highly collectible and they are special dolls that "should be" played nicely with. Toddlers like Clay loves to play with them, but they can be clumsy and likes to experiment! You can often find Clay carrying the minature tea cups everywhere because he loves the tiniest pieces, but that means that pieces might get lost too.

Abby plays well with them and gets upset when her little brother messed up her house and display. I do feel sorry for her as we haven't got enough space for her to play peacefully without her brother messing about. Hopefully we can sort this out soon!

I have to give my niece an extra mention here, as she was so into her Sylvanian Families that she even used cardboard boxes, fabrics and toilet rolls etc to make furniture, additional rooms and accessories she hasn't collected yet. I was really impressed with her DIY shower and hospital!

Whether you like Sylvanian Families for yourself to admire or for your child to play with, they make the perfect gift for anyone who loves doll house, roleplay and/ or animals.
