The Bead and Button Craft Supplies

Art and craft isn't my strongest area, but I do love pretty things. When I visited The Bead and Button Company's website, I had my eyes on a lot of their craft materials, even though I wasn't sure what I will make out of them. They are so pretty! Subconsciously I picked everything in my favourite colour - blue. Abby likes Frozen so I can always make something along that theme for her. At the end, I made something that was actually needed, and the colours fitted perfectly with the theme too!

I was sent the following:

Express Yourself Decorative Papers (Blue, Gold, Black and Purple)   £2.00
Woodware Pack of Paper Flowers (Blue)   £2.99
Craftime Pearl Combo Gems (99 flatback self-adhesive)   £3.20
Stick It! Cool Melt Glue Gun (Blue)   £9.99
Bead and Button Company Snowflake Craft Punch (33x26x32cm)   £3.49
Woodware BREMEN Decorative Masking Tape (15mm wide 5mtrs each Roll)   £5.99

I made the above as a teacher's appreciation gift in Aqua colour theme, but was missing a gift tag.  I saw an online tutorial on craftingmom.com for a flip flop gift tag, which fitted perfectly with the theme, and the beautiful craft materials from The Bead and Button Company arrived just in time for me to do this!

I picked 3 of the quality decorative paper, and each one of them are big enough to let me make 4 flip flop insoles (which are slightly smaller than the template on craftingmom.com). The lovely paper flowers (when I first saw them online I thought they were made of fabric!) came in different styles, and 3 of them came in 3s, which was perfect! I love the self-adhesive pearls, they look so real and pretty in the middle of the flowers, and they are very easy to use too. I used green and blue card papers, as well as curling ribbons to make the rest of the flip flops, and they look perfect!

I was really proud of myself for making these, and wish that someone would gift me one instead!

I was going to use the cool glue gun to stick the flip flops together, but I wasn't sure how safe it was to use around the kids so I used PVA glue instead. It was so messy! I wish I have used the glue gun as it was so easy to use, melts the glue stick within minutes and there was hardly any mess. Only the front body of the gun was warming up, and the rest are safe to touch. There wasn't an indicator to tell you when it's ready, so you just have to press the trigger to test it out. The glue does cool down pretty quickly though so preparing everything beforehand is definitely recommended.

The first glue blob dried when I was taking the picture. Right: snowflake glued down using second glue blob
I requested for the snowflake punch as I was planning to make something with a Frozen theme. It didn't work out with the summer flip flops, but I'm sure I'll be using this lots when Christmas comes. It doesn't really work on card papers though and it does require a bit of effort to press the paper snowflakes out, but you can see that the cut is very clean, and I really like this snowflake shape.

Years ago when I was still in high school, we used washi tapes as bookmarks, and seal our secrets in end of year diaries (that you pass around for your friends to write about their thoughts) so that it doesn't get seen. Nowadays there are so many more ways to use washi tapes!

Since I needed a makeup brush holder, and this plastic cup was looking a bit plain (actually a bit too big too but it'll do for now). I love the blue and pattern on this washi tape duo, so thought that perhaps I can decorate my cup with it. I tapes the inner cup with one stripe, and the outer cup with the other to create a 3D effect, though I'm not sure whether it's coming through. I told you I'm not very crafty! It's better than plain though! Really like how easy it is to use these masking tape type washi tapes. I'm going to look for more things to re-decorate!

I'm really happy with the quality and choices from The Bead and Button Company. There is so much you can do with their products and really, your limit is your imagination!
