Guest Post - My Laneige Crush by Mechelle

Laneige, Korean Skincare, Korean Cosmetics

I met Mechelle (yes that's how her name is spelled, I love it as it's very unique!) when we were at University and we've been BFF ever since. She has decided to move back to Singapore, and has since opened a really lovely accessory shop called Macaroon (ships to overseas). Do check her accessories out, she has lots of unique pieces you won't be able to find here in the UK!

Mechelle is also a lifestyle blogger, blogging at Eat Well . Travel Often. If you love holiday posts, scrummy food pictures with honest reviews and beauty posts, you should definitely check her blog out!

My love of Korean products started with her, as she always send me a pile of beauty products to try! Today she has kindly written a post here to share with you why she loves the top Korean beauty brand - Laneige so much! Something you don't get from Memeboxes!

My Laneige Crush

These are all the Laneige items Ive tried so far. I think Ive tried some others that didnt work for me like the Blackhead Melting Gel and Water Bank Eye Cream.

Laneige Time Freeze Essence

My favourite so far! You use this after your cleanser or toner (which I seldom use and if I do feel like using I will use one of Etude House pore line products).

The Essence finishes off smoothly into your skin. I usually use 2 pumps of this on my face and neck. Smell is ok unlike some essence which smells horrible (SKII anyone?).

Sometimes if i forget to apply moisturiser on top of the essence and  it doesnt feel dry at all. Some essence makes your skin feels dry after some time. It doesnt feel like I'm applying a lot of layer of gunk on my face either if i remember to apply other skin care products after. Remember - base is important. I think this is a good investment. I feel good using this essence.

Recently I've been having breakouts. I stopped using a couple of skin care and make up products and also changed a small part of my diet - cutting out those I feel are making the pimples so comfortably setting up camp on my face. AND this essence is one of the changes I  made into my routine. Instead of using it maybe once or twice per week (because i have other essences or serums that I wanna use also) I have been religiously using it every day - mostly night time. I think it helped with my breakout problems.

Laneige Time Freeze Wrinkle Filler

Apply this as the last step of your skin care so I apply it after my moisturiser which comes after my essence. You are supposed to apply this at your eye and mouth corner area - I just apply it where I can see obvious wrinkles which is almost my entire eye and my laugh lines #hateaging. It gives off a warming sensation. I notice that it feels warmer if I apply it on top of my Waterbank moisturiser. I sometimes switch my moisturisers up depending on my mood. Currently I'm alternating between Tarte Maracuja Oil, Laneige Water Bank Moisture Cream (below) and La Mer Creme de la Mer (ultra rich, very good for dehydrated skin). Maybe I'll do a top moisturiser review next time.

The texture of this filler reminds me of a Strivectin eye cream/concentrate that I tried ages ago. It feels like it fills in your lines a little. I would say it feels a little bit like some makeup primer - the transparent ones. But this filler doesn't feel as primer-y as the Strivectin one that I tried and that's a good thing.

Laneige Water Bank Moisture Cream

I don't particularly love this moisturiser but I don't dislike it either. It glides on smoothly and is light enough. Just your average moisturiser I guess. Not super oily rich and not drying after a while either. I will use this whenever my skin is having it's breakout moments - probably signalling to me that I shouldn't use my richer moisturisers.

Laneige Water Bank Eye Gel Cream

Went to a Laneige workshop and the makeup artist said that you can use this eye cream as eye mask too. Just apply more on your eye and leave it on for probably as long as you would a normal mask and wipe it off later. I feel the formula is too dry for me. Anything gel is probably unsuitable for me since they tend to dry off faster. I need creamier stuff. I use this sample piece as part of my travelling kit. Currently I'm loyal to La Mer's eye cream. I feel that if you wanna splurge on something for your skin, eye cream is a good start. To be honest, I used to have really bad dark eye circles most likely because I slept really late and rarely get 7-8hrs of sleep. I believe no cream will fix this unless you change everything else that I mentioned which is to get enough sleep, sleep early and maybe eat healthier and exercise more - this will probably fix your overall complexion hahah. I know people these days have excuses for not being able to do all these and the most common excuse is no time. Well, if you want it bad enough I'm certain you will make time for it. Else, too bad.

Laneige Water Sleeping Pack

This should be the older packaging. Love this mask. It's a leave on mask. Perfect for lazy people like me. I usually apply it when I'm too lazy to apply normal mask. Just apply a thin layer and leave it on overnight. This tub lasts forever. I had one that lasted years and I didn't even finish it. Maybe it's a sign I should use it more often - note to self, use this tonight hahah.

Laneige Water Bank Double Moisture Mask

OK, this picture kinda makes it look like a pad hahahah. I really like this mask. It's richer than my usual My Beauty Diary masks or from other Korean brands like Innisfree or Face Shop. For normal masks you can probably use them almost daily or maybe 3-4 times a week if you have dry skin. But for this mask since it is supposedly very rich (double moisture, get it? hahah) I was told you can probably use it like maybe once a week or once in 2 weeks. I don't remember but I think you don't have to follow precisely and it depends on the condition of your skin. I use this once or twice a week alternating with peel off mask or the other normal masks when I'm feeling less lazy.

The mask has an extra mask sheet at the bottom. Im liking this part because I think I can pull it up a bit so it feels like it's giving my face a slight lifting effect. You can use this mask longer than the usual masks too. For normal masks I would say maybe after 15-20 minutes I would feel like it's starting to dry up but I can leave this mask on for longer, maybe 30 minutes and it's fine. I tend to forget to remove them in time.

Picture of my face using the mask to end this post wahahah. I hope to try more Laneige products next time. It's really difficult to find skin care that suits your skin especially if you have a more sensitive skin. I feel like my skin is getting more sensitive as I age so I've been changing some products after my recent breakout #panicmode. One thing I know for sure is when I use the essence and apply the others before I sleep, I like how my skin look and feel in the morning when I wake up. #cheerstogoodskin.
