Octonauts has always been our family favourite. We thought that the producion company has stopped making new episodes, so you can understand how excited we were when we caught sight of the first episode of the latest season (season 4)! Clay has been re-watching all the previous episodes for quite some time now, so it's definitely refreshing to watch the new ones!
Not only is the new Octonauts series up, Fisher-Price has also released a range of new Octonauts toys, including the new gups that are featuring in the new episodes! They knew that Clay is a big fan (you can see all our Octonauts posts here) and have kindly send him a Gup-I to play with (I did the rest of course hehe). Look at how happy he is when he saw it!
The Gup-I is inspired by the durability and adaptability of a water bear. It can transform into 3 modes:
Command Centre Mode:
Left: command unit Right: Snowprowler storage area and ramp to store and launch the snowprowler vehicle
Water Bear Mode:
Transform into water bear mode by sliding the red lever to the left to extend all 6 legs so that the gup-I can walk in thick snow!
Tilt body upwards after body is in the down position (legs not extended). Then tilt the front cab forward
Light and Sound:
Right: Flashing lights on the front cab, power button at the bottom of it
The Gup-I also comes with light and sound, which can be activated by pulling the antenna forward (plays different phrases). It can also detect whether it's being transformed into Scout mode or Water Bear mode, and will play the correct sound and phrase for each.
Apart from changing into different modes (it just came to my mind that the 3 modes kind of fulfilled the Octonauts slogan - Explore, Rescue, Protect!), which makes Gup-I super cool and allows for a great role-play experience, we really like the snowball launcher as well, which fires snowballs when pressed!
The Gup-I is of good quality as usual, and kept all the great things about Fisher-Price Octonauts toys. Clay really likes the Gup-I, and it's currently at the "play very often" corner in the living room! He is showing signs of wanting to bring all the Octonauts toys down from his room as well (the gang are inching their way out of his room each day and are heading towards the top of the stairs)! I think it's going to be like this for a very long time ( at least until season 4 is finished, plus a month or two after!). It's also safe to say that Clay has added the other new gups onto his Christmas wishlist as well! I hope Santa can be generous this year!
