Christmas to Watch - On Angel Wings

Christmas, On Angel Wings, Nativity Story
I told you it's all Christmassy in November at ours. We've already slapped a gel Santa on our window haha (wondering how many passer-by rolled their eyes when they saw him).

This week we've enjoyed a lovely Christmas animation - On Angel Wings, which is a re-working of the nativity story based on the book On Angel Wings by author Michael Morpurgo, and from the executive producer of The Snowman and director of Father Christmas.

The animated short film was shown on BBC One last Christmas, and is now on DVD (£5.99 on Amazon UK). It tells the story of a family having their Christmas dinner at their grandfather's, and he told them the story about when he was a young shepherd boy, how the Angel Gabriel flew him to meet the newly-born Christ child, the Virgin Mary and Joseph.

It is a lovely, peaceful Christmas story that both the kids really enjoy. Abby wished that it's a bit longer. We will just have to watch it together with The Snowman and The Snowman and the Snowdog.

The soundtrack is beautiful too. It is exactly the kind of Christmas film I'll want my children to watch during Christmas. I might get the book as well for a Christmas bedtime story.

The DVD also features an exclusive Storyboard Commentary from director Dave Unwin. I think it'll make a lovely addition to the Christmas collection.

The DVD and digital version are both available now.
