It's Mothering Sunday on the 26th March 2017 in the UK, have you thought of what you'll be getting or making for your mums yet? If you want to make a card but want it different from what you usually do, check out the Gel-a-Peel range, because they make great materials for card making!
We were sent the new Gel-a-Peel Pearly Pastel Kit, together with a few blank cards and envelopes, so that we can create our own Mothers' Day cards:
We absolutely love the new pearly pastel colours! They are so mesmerising, anything made with them looks pretty! I highly recommend making gradient colours with these, they look amazing! I also tried to mix blue and white into a heart gem mould, it was a bit harder to do, and I do think that I could have mixed it in a bit more, but I love the blushing effect (see below)!
The gel gem tray is extremely useful to make 3D flowers and gems, and much easier to use than making jelly too because it's so easy to pull the dried silicone shapes out!
I just had a thought, I might just make some cute paperclips with these (just glue them on one side or both sides of a small paperclip).
Anyway, back to the Mothers' Days card we made:
Once you made enough silicone gems and flowers, you can place them however you like on your card, before you glue them down, it's so handy! And even if you don't want to use the gel tray and just draw with the gel-a-peel gels, there are 3 types of designer tips you can use, so you can get very creative with these.
To make gradient colours, simply pop a freshly used designer tip onto another tube of colour, and it'll come out with a gorgeous effect. There are a lot of tutorials on Gel-a-Peel's website too to inspire you.
I think the Pearly Pastel colours are great for Spring and make something lovingly, but if your mum love brighter colours, there are plenty of other kits to choose from as well. You can find Gel-a-Peel products online and in all good toy stores now.
Have fun crafting for Mothering Sunday!
