Hot Wheels Track Builder Stunt Bridge Kit

Calling all Hot Wheels fans! Mattel has released 2 extremely exciting Hot Wheels sets that will make the perfect Christmas gift for you! We have been testing out the 2 kits and they were exhilarating!

I had no idea that you can have so much fun with toy cars. If you'd like to find out more about the 2 sets, read on for our Hot Wheels Track Builder Stunt Bridge review, and stay tuned for the Hot Wheels Roto Revolution Track Set one that I will be publishing next week.

Hot Wheels Track Builder Stunt Bridge Set (RRP £49.99, suitable for 5 years +) comes with over 70 parts, including:

  • Red Hot Wheels Stunt Car
  • Brick Pieces for you to build parts of the stunt bridge
  • Motorised Bridge (requires 2 x D batteries)

The instructions come with 3 suggested challenges, which we have tested out, but you can let your imagination and creativity go wild with the Hot Wheels Track Builder range and create your own parts for the bridge, let it be obstacles or decorations. You can even combine them with other Hot Wheels track sets!

While hubby had all the fun building the stunt bridge, the kids couldn't resist testing out the launcher (look at their cheeky faces!). They kept testing it by slamming on the launcher to get the best speed possible. At first I was worried that they'll break it, but it's much sturdier than it looks!

This is our first Hot Wheels Track Builder set and we found the idea of making it bricks compatible really clever. You can even use your own toy bricks to customise it. There are 3 sets of instructions included in the set, but you can get creative of course!

The box of the stunt bridge is quite large, but the built bridge is even longer (it's awesome!)! The bridge is held by the bottom dual track, which you can use to adjust the distance of the 2 ends to either link the bridge or create a big gap for the stunts.

The video clip above shows you the stunt bridge on its own being tested without a gap, while we waited for the bricks part to be built (there is plenty of building fun to be had with this set!). Initially we were worried that the bridge tracks were too long and the car won't have enough momentum to get on the bridge, let alone across. But after adjusting the way each of us press (or slam!) the launcher, we got it across and it's really exciting to see it work!

It got us motivated to do the next 2 challenges:

The 2nd one requires us to launch the cars (we used our other Hot Wheels cars as well. The Hot Wheels Batmobile works great with this set!) up high across the gap when the bridge lifts up and either get them through the brick arch, or park the car on the platforms across. Honestly speaking it does sound like a mission only Hot Wheels experts can do, but Abby did a few attempts and she did it! You can see for yourself in the video below (you can also see how the motorised bridge functions):

The video also shows you how much fun Clay had, even though he couldn't get it across. To him the challenge was to get the car up on the bridge and he did it! With more practise I'm sure he'll get one across in no time!

The 3rd challenge is actually harder and we are still trying to master. We have to get the car across the bridge and all the way to the end of the track so that it will jump over the brick ramp we built (see the picture above the video). We will definitely keep trying!

The set also comes with cardboard monsters you can use to decorate the bridge and get your stunt cars to defeat them! There is a giant monster you can pop out from the box lid as well, but we decided not to so that we can use the box to store the bridge (you can take it apart again. The tracks are soft and bendy but sturdy enough so don't worry about applying a bit more force to release them) until we get a storage box for our Hot Wheels sets.

The box also showed a picture of what the Hot Wheels Track Builder range will look like when attached to each other. That's one awesome track!

Overall we really liked the Hot Wheels Track Builder Stunt Bridge set as you can get creative and do different challenges with the bridge and compatible bricks, and even combine it with other Hot Wheels tracks to make a bigger set. If you think about it, a lot of these stunts are impossible to do in real life (flying across the bridge maybe, by some experts, but parking thew car as well on the other side?!), but you can do it with Hot Wheels, and they are toys! It really gets the kids' imagination going. Clay loves building and creating new things with bricks, so this will be another challenge for him - to build something to allow the cars to do crazy stunts on the stunt bridge!
