My Little Pony DVD: Friendship is Magic - Welcome to Ponyville

My Little Pony DVD, Friendship is Magic - Welcome to Ponyville, Ponies

When I was about Abby's age, my favourite toy was My Little Pony. I remember I used to have a pony castle, and ponies with fragranced patterns. At one point, My Little Pony seem to have disappeared from my life, until this classic toy made a big come back years ago. I'm so glad to see that Abby and Clay are a fan of My Little Pony as well, it really means a lot to me! Did you know that, according to a survey done by Clearvision on 1,000 parents, the most popular toy for children under 8 years old is a bike, doll house, Barbie and at 4th place comes My Little Pony? Looking at Abby, Clay and their cousin who's also a big fan, I'm really not surprised at all!

We were really excited about reviewing the new My Little Pony DVD! I should have showed it to Abby during a weekend as she refused to go to bed and told me to put the TV back on! Tut tut!

The My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic - Welcome to Ponyville (rrp £12.99) contains 6 episodes:

Friendship is Magic - Part 1 and 2
Griffon the Brush-off
Look Before you Sleep
Swarm of the Century
Owl's Well that Ends Well

Friendship is Magic talks about how Twighlight Twinkle, a special pony who has powerful magic and loves to study, made friends with many other ponies and found the most poweful magic - Magic of Friendship, after being told to find the true meaning of friendship by Princess Celestia of Equestria.

When I saw the hot air balloon with Twighlight Twinkle and Spike inside before the show starts, I got really excited, because we have the toy! It was one of Abby's 5th birthday present. I think companies are really clever, making toys that are related to the show, so children can feel more connected to their favourite program! Even the smartphone/ tablet app of My Little Pony gave us that feeling (yes I played it too!).

Anyway. Although childhood memory is always the best, I do like the new My little Pony's animation drawings. It made the characters much funnier and dramatic than before (I remember they used to be rounder, more gentle, sweet and calmer). I absolutely adore Pinkie Pie's expression when Twilight Twinkle said hi to her! The dialog is funny, making us giggle and laugh along. Abby said that she was a tiny bit scared when Nightmare Moon escaped from the moon, although I found her too funny to be worried about it!

The DVD is retailed at £12.99, and you'll get 2 hours 15 mins of peace while your child learns about friendship with laughter, I think it's value for money! I can foresee Abby wanting to watch it over and over again! If your little one loves My Little Pony as much as our children do, then I really think you should get the DVD! It is out now in all good entertainment stores and Clearvision's website.
