Peanut Hottie

Peanut Hottie, Peanut Butter drink, extra smooth peanut butter

We love peanuts in this house, especially hubby! If there is a peanut flavoured chocolate or ice-cream, he'll be the one who stocks it up! We also love peanut fillings in glutinous rice balls and other Chinese treats, but we've never drank a peanut drink before. So when we noticed that Peanut Hottie were looking for reviewers, we quickly put our hands up. I just love these opportunities to trial and test new products before we buy them!

Peanut Hottie, Peanut Butter drink, extra smooth peanut butter

Peanut Hottie is a peanut butter flavour instant hot beverage. Each 20g serving contains only 83 calories. They are made of real peanuts (3% defatted peanut flour), are caffeine free, and is suitable for vegetarians with no artificial colours nor additives.  It comes in 20g sachets (rsp 40p exclusive to Waitrose) as well as 225g jars (£2.99 from Sainsburys and Waitrose).

The Peanut Hottie is a very new idea to our mind, like banana peanut butter toast (still haven't tried this yet!), or salted caramel (love especially when there is salt crystals in it!). When hot water went in, there is a strong whiff of salty peanut butter smell, which was gorgeous by the way! But when my tongue tasted something really sweet, a bit like caramel or toffee, my senses got all mixed up! Hubby wasn't very keen as he thought there was an after taste to it.

I ended up adding salt to my drink, which is a first haha (cup-a-soup doesn't count of course). But I'm so glad that I did as I think that touch of salt is exactly what is needed to enhance the flavours, like the salt in caramel. My salted Peanut Hottie was delicious! I must also add that I did add a bit more creamer to it as I love creamy drinks (Next time, however, I'll just add more powder or less water). So it really is a Naughty Salted Peanut Hottie that is a luxury drink for those moments when I need to wind down! If you prefer, you can always add warmed milk to it, just like you'd do with instant hot chocolate.

I'm going to make Hubby my version of the Peanut Hottie and I think he'll really like it! If you also love peanut butter, I do urge you to give it a try as we all like our drinks served differently (tea, white with no sugar please!). You might just like it as it is, or be like me, adjust the flavour and texture yourself to get your perfect Peanut Hottie! How about adding chunky peanut butter to the mix?

Peanut Hottie is available from Sainburys and Waitrose now, and I heard that there will be a chocolate version coming out soon!
