Family Friendly Seaside Town - Blackpool

To me, seaside towns should always be family friendly, though not limited to family alone. Five years ago, I didn't really see Blackpool as a family friendly seaside town, I kept having the feeling that it's more for adults, so we never really brought our children there.

Our opinion has changed during our visits this year, however. Suddenly there seem to be more open space and things to do with children! There are still plenty of attraction and things to do for adults of course, and it's fun to see the occasional group of hen and stag doers. But now it feels much more balanced between adults only and family friendly activities, and it felt much safer for us to take the kids there.

In fact, we just visited Blackpool last weekend and there was a Lifeboat Sea Safety road show on, where kids can experience sitting in a lifeboat and rescue speedboat, plus other fun activities to do. We also saw a few fire engines driving past slowly, with the one at the front being pulled by firemen using a thick rope! The activities are definitely more family focused!

I was told that there is a new website for Blackpool -, which is more user friendly than to find attractions suitable for all members in the family. They have put together an infographic to show you what kids think is essential for a seaside holiday, and it seems like they are less bothered about the British weather than we adults do!

If you get a chance, visit Blackpool and plan your visit there as there is so much to do now with the kids, you'd probably need to stay for a night or two to enjoy Blackpool fully!

I'll post up the most hilarious entertainment we had in years that we saw at Blackpool Central Pier soon too!
